Our Story

Four Decades of Building Virginia

Construction By Design, Inc. was established in 1982 and incorporated in 1991. We specialize in custom home building, with a successful history of consulting — inspection, expert witness and cost estimating — historical, interior and exterior restorations, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, and additions in Northern Virginia, Central Virginia, Eastern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

The company is led by its owner and president, Thomas Gannon, who supervises every project full time. Accepted by the insurance industry as an expert in construction, Mr. Gannon is also recognized as an expert in construction defects in the Eastern District Federal Court, the Virginia courts of Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Prince William and the City of Richmond, and the District of Columbia.
